Lindsay Rough - contemporary artist

Much of my work is abstracted from memory and imaginings. Vibrant and colourful still lives and landscapes in a semi-abstract style result. My paintings develop from initial ideas of landscape or objects, and through colour and texture become realisations of an idea of place or subject. The gallery page of this website gives examples of my work, with medium and size. These change as work is sold and new work created. Please email me for prices.

Orb mixed media 60x29cm

I am constantly entranced by colour, and try to engage the eye with purity of tone and value. I enjoy the quality of the paint itself, particularly when combined with a medium for texture or additional body. The use of other media enhances texture and contrast.
I generally work on canvas, paper or board, with acrylics, watercolour and mixed media. Paintings on canvas are normally unframed to hang directly on the wall, while other supports will need to be mounted and framed.

I have work in private collections and have exhibited in London, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. I took part in the Herts Open Studios event in 2007, 2008 and 2009. This year, 2010, I will be opening my studio on the 22nd, 25th, 26th September and the 2nd and 3rd of October between 12 noon and 4pm.
I am taking part in the Kingsbury Barn exhibition in St Albans from the 12th to the 19th June 2010. Kingsbury Barn is at Branch Road, St Michael's Village, AL3 4SE. Full details of this and Open Studios can be found on the Herts Visual Arts Forum website (see below)
